Antarctica

January 24th – February 11th, 2023

Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires, Argentina. I spent three days here before flying down to Ushuaia.
Ushuaia city from pier
Ushuaia, Argentina. I boarded a boat to Antarctica in this city.
Cool building in Ushuaia
Ushuaia again
Sunset in the Beagle Channel
Sunset in the Beagle Channel, sailing to the Drake Passage 🤮🤮
Penguins
Adélie penguins on Devil's Island, Antarctica. They smell awful, and your clothes smell like penguin for days afterwards.
Bay and mountain
Shot taken while hiking the Antarctic Peninsula near Danco Coast
MV Ushuaia in the bay
More from the Antarctic Peninsula. Our ship, the MV Ushuaia, is in the distance. (I don't recommend riding this ship if you go to Antarctica. It's a former research vessel that rocks a lot even in not-so-bad seas. I got sick in the Drake even on Dramamine.)
Seal sleeping and penguin
Mr. Seal snoozing on some island with a name that I can't remember in the Weddell Sea
Iceberg
Taken while returning to the ship from the Antarctic Peninsula
Polar plunge
Polar plunge. Water temp was 35F.
Tierra del Fuego
Taken on a hike in Tierra del Fuego National Park, Argentina
