Designs on the inside of the main church. UNESCO states that the Jesuits protected the indigenous from the Spanish encomienda and allowed them to retain parts of their culture. Although the Guarani lived throughout South America, Paraguay is one of the few countries today in which Guarani is an official language.
I rode a bus 5 hr from Asunción to Encarnación to get to the ruins. Across the river is Posadas, Argentina, which sits across the Rió Paraná from Encarnación.
The endless cityscape of São Paulo, Brazil. With over 12 million people, SP is the largest city in the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere. I flew back here to catch a flight to Southeast Asia.
